Hummingbird Helles
One of NCBEERDOG’s favorite beers in all of North Carolina is Red Oak’s Hummin’ Bird.
STYLE
A Helles is a particular style of Lager that has its roots in Munich, Germany.
If you are a fan of crisp clean beers, slightly sweet malts coiupled with light hops and a faint bitter finish then the Helles is the beer for you.
Fun Fact: The word “helles” means pale in color.

REVIEW
APPEARANCE: gold color, pours with foamy head, clear
AROMA: hint of malts
TASTE: sweet caramelized malts with slight bitters
ABV: 4.5%
MOUTHFEEL: medium-light body, carbonates well and slight bitterness at the finish
OVERALL IMPRESSION: A great Helles! A perfect beer anytime of the year but especially refreshing after a hot Summer day. Also this beer would be a great addition at any tailgate or cookout.
